Philippine Science High School Application 2022 Now Open

The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) is now accepting online applications for incoming Grade 7 (AY 2023-2024). Filipino students who meet the criteria may now apply for a scholarship through its Requirement for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation (RACE). The deadline for submission of the online and completed application form and the requirements is until November 15, 2022. For the third year running, PSHS will screen prospective entering Grade 7 students and administer the RACE in place of the National Competitive Exam (NCE) for the Pisay scholarship application.

Requirements for Admission, Criteria, and Evaluation (RACE)

This new system is being implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among the thousands of examinees who congregate in testing centers located throughout the country. The selection process will be two-staged. The first stage is to determine the applicant’s expected NCE grade (PNG), which is calculated using the applicant’s Grade 5 final grades in Science and Mathematics while the second step evaluates the applicant’s writing abilities through the submission of an essay and his or her academic standing at the conclusion of Grade 5. On the basis of their Final Score, applicants will be ranked from highest to lowest. The top 240 applicants are deemed Primary Qualifiers for admission to PSHS-Main Campus (MC) while the top 90 or 120 applicants in the regional ranking, depending on the PSHS campus’s quota, will be the Regional Campuses’ Principal Qualifiers.
