Civil Engineering Board Exam 2018 Schedule, Coverage, Requirements

Pursuant to Republic Act No. 544* as Amended by R.A. 1582, any person who wants to practice civil engineering in the Philippines shall be required to pass a technical examination given by the Professional Board of Civil Engineering. Therefore, the Professional Regulation Commission and the Professional Board of Civil Engineering regularly conducts the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination twice a year, in the months of May and November. If you are planning to take the Civil Engineering Board Exam this year, here are the schedules of examination, the opening of the online processing, and the deadline for filing of applications. Civil Engineering Board Exam Schedule

Here are the details of the November 2018 Civil Engineering Licensure Examination to be given in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga:

The Professional Regulation Commission advises applicants to use the PRC’s Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS) to set an appointment on your preferred PRC office when filing the exam application. Qualifications

Under the Section 12 of the Civil Engineering Law, applicants of the Civil Engineering Board Exam shall satisfy the following criteria prior to the date of the examination:

  • He or she must be a Filipino citizen;
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age;
  • Having a good reputation and moral character; and
  • A graduate of a 5-year course in civil engineering from a school, institute, college or university recognized by the Government or the State wherein it is established.

Board Exam Requirements

Applicants must present the following documents to the PRC Office on your scheduled date:

  1. Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA);
  2. If the applicant is a married female, present an original copy of the marriage contract issued by the PSA;
  3. Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes”
  4. Valid NBI Clearance (First Timers & Repeaters)
  5. Payment fee of Php 900.00;
  6. Two (2) Certificates of Good Moral Character from any 2 of the following:
  • Barangay
  • Church
  • School
  • Employer

Civil Engineering Board Exam Coverage

The two-day Civil Engineering Licensure Examination is comprised of the following subjects and their corresponding weight:

    1. Mathematics, Surveying, and Transportation Engineering – 35%
      • Algebra, Plane, and Spherical Trigonometry
      • Analytics, Descriptive and Solid Geometry
      • Differential and Integral Calculus
      • Highway and Railroad Surveying
      • Plane Topographic and Hydrographic Surveying
      • Design and Constructions of Highway and Railroads, Piers, Ports and Wharves
    2. Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering – 30%
      • Fluid Properties
      • Hydrostatic Pressures
      • Fluid Flow
      • Buoyancy and Flotation
      • Relative Equilibrium of Liquids
      • Hydrodynamics
      • Water Supply Soil Properties
      • Soils Classification
      • Fluid Flow through Soil Mass
      • Stresses in Soil Mass
      • Soil Strenght and Tests
      • Bearing Capacity
      • Compaction
      • Consolidation and Settlement
      • Lateral Earth Pressures
      • Slope Stability
    3. Structural Engineering and Construction – 35%
      • Engineering Mechanics
      • Strenght of Materials
      • Theory of Structures
      • Analysis and Design of Concrete, Steel, Timber Structures and Foundation with the application of the governing Codes of Practice

Passing Score/Grade

To pass the Civil Engineering Board Exam, a candidate must obtain a general average of 70% with no grades lower than 50% in any given subject.
