The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced on its official Facebook page that the 15-hour Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) is free at LTO Driver’s Education Centers. Since April 6, 2020, new drivers applying for a student permit must undergo a 15-hour theoretical driving course program. The aim is to ensure that driver’s licenses are given to disciplined individuals with more than average driving skills and extensive knowledge of road safety and established laws.
Without further ado, here is the list of Drivers Education Centers where you can take the course for free.
How to Avail of the Free Theoretical Driving Course?
Go to the nearest LTO Drivers Education Center in your area and secure your schedule. Visit their official Facebook page and inquire about this free service. You can find the link to their page on the images above.
For those who like to avail themselves of the TDC in Driver’s Education Center of LTO NCR-WEST Regional Office, LTO Las Piñas Licensing Extension Office, or LTO Pasay Licensing Office, you may fill-up an online form posted weekly on their official Facebook page. Keep in mind that walk-in applicants are not allowed. For more information, you can email them at 301rdmpao@gmail.com.
What is the LTO’s mandatory theoretical driving course?
According to Memorandum Circular 2019-2176 implemented by the LTO since last year, any student applicant requesting a driver’s license is now required to go through a 15-hour theoretical driving course under certified instructors. The said course is divided into three sessions and will cover everything from traffic regulations to LTO mandated special laws. It must be completed within two years from the day an applicant started the course.
